Keller Auto Speedway Tough on Tommy Tarlton

PETERSEN MEDIA- Racing close to home on Friday night, Tommy Tarlton and his Tarlton Motorsports team made the trip to the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Hoping to build some momentum back up for the upcoming Johnny Key Classic, Tarlton would have an up and down night that ultimately saw him pull off the speedway early.

“We had some speed early, then we had some bad luck,” Tarlton said. “It was kind of a weird night.”

Kicking things off on the 3/8 mile facility, Tarlton would time his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21 machine in eighth fastest, good enough for the front row of his heat race.

Taking advantage of the excellent starting position, Tarlton would get the jump and go on to lead the way as he picked up the heat race win. The win however came at a cost as Tarlton’s engine would expire as he took the checkered flag.

With his crew working feverishly to get a bullet into the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy and Associates entry, Tarlton would pull the two pill for the Dash putting him on the front row.

With the track opting to push the dash cars onto the speedway before track prep, Tarlton would be left on the sidelines and relegated to the eighth starting spot for the 30-lap feature event.

Following track work, the track would say pretty narrow and fast making passing a tall order on Friday night. Stuck in traffic, Tarlton would find himself running low on tear offs as he worked around the speedway, and then would feel impact to his hand from a rock and ultimately decide to call it a night.

“I have to thank my guys for trying their best to get us out for the Dash, but we just didn’t have time,” Tarlton said. “The track was pretty fast in the feature and trying to move up was extremely difficult. I tried as long as I could but with visibility out of my helmet getting tough, I opted to pull in.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.

ON TAP: Tommy will take this weekend off before returning to the Ocean Speedway on August 20th for the Johnny Key Classic.
