PETERSEN MEDIA- Though his results haven’t shown how much speed he has had over the last few weeks, Tommy Tarlton continued to show his strength on Friday night as he picked up a third place finish at the Ocean Speedway.
“It was a good night for the Tarlton Motorsports team,” Tommy Tarlton said. “Paul Baines and the guys have given me a good car all year long, so it is nice to finally get a finish that shows how good we have been.”
Timing his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21 machine in quickest overall in time trials, the Easton, CA driver would go on to finish in the third spot during heat race competition.
Pulling the five in the dash draw, Tarlton would line the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy and Associates backed entry fifth up in the six lap shootout where a fifth place finish would put him in the third row of the 30-lap feature event.
With the bottom of the track staying really good all night long, Tarlton worked his way into the third spot during a feature event that was plagued by cautions. Looking for more during the later stages of the race, Tarlton would try to make the top work, and would briefly get in the second spot, but Shane Golobic would answer the call and put Tarlton back in the third spot.
Losing a little power in the race’s final laps, Tarlton would get back in line and ride out the duration of the race and finish third.
“It was a race where we need traffic to make anything happen up front, but cautions didn’t let that happen,” Tarlton added. “Huge thanks to everyone on this team for all they do for me.”
