PETERSEN MEDIA- Tommy Tarlton and his Tarlton Racing team made the trip to the Ventura Raceway on Saturday night to take on the King of the West Series, and when the dust settled Tarlton earned KSE Hard Charger Honors by way of his sixth place finish.
“It was a cool little track, and I had a blast coming forward like we did,’ Tarlton said. “Paul Baines and my guys always give me a great car, and Saturday night was no different.”
Just narrowly missing the heat race inversion during time trials, Tarlton would time the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino No. 21 machine in 13th fastest.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Tarlton would show some great speed as he was able to work his way forward and finish in the third spot. Though it was not good enough to move into the Dash, Tarlton and company felt good about their car heading into the 30-Lap KWS feature event.
Gridding the field from the seventh row, Tarlton was able to put his machine anywhere he needed on the track as he raced his way forward. Getting by the likes of Brent Kaeding, as well as young guns Mitchell Faccinto and Dominic Scelzi, Tarlton moved into the sixth spot as he chased after his Tarlton Racing teammate, Carson Macedo.
Pressuring Macedo late in the race, Tarlton would not execute a pass, though still closed his night out with KSE Hard Charger Honors as he took the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.
“Overall it was a great night for our entire team, and all of our partners,” Tarlton added. “Both Tarlton Racing cars were fast and to have them finish fifth and sixth is pretty cool.”
